If I were cool enough to have a band this would be our name & album cover

I learned how to use photoshop just for this! Of course when I say “learned” I mean I only figured out how to do this one thing & the rest is a complete mystery to me. But perhaps when I have a free decade I’ll finally figure out how to make it work.

In the meantime, I caught the copy bug again and decided to do this fantastically cool album cover meme from sweetney. So, voila! Here it is!! Do you like? Huh? Do ya?

album-cover1

If you’d like to try one of your own, then: following these easy steps (rules courtesy of Best Week Ever):

  1. Go to “Wikipedia.” Hit “random” and the first article you get is the name of your band.
  2. Then go to “Random Quotations” and the last four or five words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album.
  3. Then, go to Flickr and click on “Explore the Last Seven Days” and the third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.
  4. Use Photoshop or some other image editor to add text & spiffify.
  5. Post a link to your band’s album cover here! Let’s see whattcha got people.

Enough for now,
Ciao

***Thank you for the image I used for my album!!!***

Friday Bullets – 4th Edition

  • This morning alone I had 8 spam comments for cialis & viagra – thank you so much for the information Mr., Ms., or Mrs. Spammer but I’m a WOMAN & not at all interested in those particular drugs.
  • The husband was waiting at DMV to pick up his new license plates (and this is a post in itself for another day) and overheard a lady talking to her daughter – whose name just happened to be Desiree.
  • Excited about my friend’s birthday party that is tomorrow night. We got my niece to watch the gremlins so we can go sans children to the party.  Drunkfest!
  • I’m so tired of people complaining about our FREE, yes I said FREE, videos. Without ever having bought anything from us. They’re just complaining about the FREE video. You can go SUCKIT!
  • SOMEONE brought donuts into the office today & before I had to control myself so as not to eat any of the donuts I found that another employee had eaten my favorite kind! Yes!! And I did thank him ever so much for eating it before I could get my paws on it.
  • Filing paperwork is at the bottom of my list of favorite things to do. EVER.
  • And I have a month & a half worth of papers to file. Oh, here let me show you! photo-3_edited

Granted this stack (or my current papers to file) isn’t nearly as bad as the stack below (or my SIX months worth of papers to file) that I put off for oh, SIX months.

  • Thankfully the antibiotics are doing their thang. I finally feel human again.
  • I decided to wear earrings in the second holes on my ear lobe today after not wearing earrings there for 5+ years.
  • I don’t know why I stopped wearing them but for some reason I felt like wearing them today.
  • Actually had to go to Honey bunny’s room and steal borrow some small stud type earrings cause I have none anymore.
  • Have officially begun the punch list of required records for our CPA for 2008. BLECH!

Well, that’s enough for now,

Ciao

My recently devoured list of books

I realize that the title of this post is a tiny bit misleading… I didn’t devour a list of books, or a list, or a bunch of books, technically I didn’t devour anything, but what I did was READ a number of books quite quickly -one right after the other you might say- in a manner that could be called ‘devouring’ if we were discussing food.

Anyway, I’ve been on a reading binge again, although I don’t think you can equate this type of binge with perhaps a drinking, overeating, smoking, drug binge. Obviously.  Nonetheles, it takes up enormous amounts of time that would otherwise be spent doing more productive things.  Or, say, paying attention to your children & husband. Heh.  But its good to read, right, isn’t that what we’re told?

So without further ado here is the list of recently devoured books (and to reiterate, no books were harmed in the devouring):

  1. Size 12 is not Fat – Meg Cabot
  2. No Choice but Seduction – Johanna Lindsey
  3. Perfect – Marne Davis Kellogg
  4. High Five – Janet Evanovich
  5. Hot Six – Janet Evanovich
  6. Seven up – Janet Evanovich
  7. Spirited Away – Cindy Miles
  8. Into Thin Air – Cindy Miles
  9. Deep Writing – Eric Maisel

The other day I started Hard Eight by Janet Evanovich, clearly the 8th book in her Stephanie Plum series.  And then!  Last Wednesday night!  We went to an author signing.  There were 450 authors at the event.  Many of whom I had never heard of before.  But here are a few of my favorites…

Here’s me with Nora Roberts aka JD Robb

Yes, I realize I look like a crazy fan (you should have seen the picture before I fixed the red eye.  Whoo did I look like a psycho).  And am I the only one who thinks she looks a bit like Pat Benatar?

Here’s me with Christina Dodd

At least I don’t look nearly as crazy here.  Although I think I scared half the authors with my pronouncement that meeting them was like meeting a celebrity.

Here is Stephanie Rowe

Here’s me with Suzanne Brockmann

Here is Julia Quinn

Here is Jayne Ann Krentz aka Amanda Quick aka Jayne Castle

So part of the deal was that you could purchase their books -signed of course- and a portion of the sale would go toward Round up for Literacy.  Needless to say I bought many books this night.  Hey, it was for a great cause!  Forget that I luurrve these authors it was for the literacy program.  Heh.

Now in addition to the two books I just checked out from the library, the eight books I bought at the event, the two books I just bought from our local bookstore, and the book I already started (as indicated at the beginning of this post), I have a HELLA lot of reading to do!  Wish me luck… I think I’m gonna need it!  You know, to find the time to read that many books before the next year ends.

Enough for now,

Ciao

Wait, what? It’s my anniversary today?

You know it’s bad when you are the WIFE and you forget your anniversary!  Not that I forgot it entirely, you see.  I just forgot this morning.  In our usual mad rush to get breakfast in the gremlin’s tummies, get them clothed, shoed, hair/teeth brushed, we both completely forgot to say Happy Anniversary to each other… and not even a small kiss goodbye as the husband rushed out the door.  That’s bad, huh?

It’s our 13th wedding anniversary.  I don’t have a thing about the number 13 so its just another year to me.  What shocks me, is that it has gone by faster than I ever could have imagined.

Here is where I try to explain away my forgetting of the anniversary:

  1. It’s a Tuesday, for Pete’s sake
  2. It’s been 13 years
  3. I’m thinking about the upcoming 4th of July weekend – Parade, BBQ, fireworks and that’s just on Fri., Sat we are going to a BBQ at my mom’s and I’m supposed to walk 14 miles, oh yeah & 10 miles on Sun.
  4. I have two gremlins that I have to deal with – e.g. MOM she’s bugging me, tell her to get her feet out of my face!  She pushed me.
  5. We are going to Las Vegas in two weeks to celebrate our anniversary – WHOOOOHOOOOO!
  6. I have work I’m supposed to be doing – yawn
  7. I’ve been trying to finish a couple blog posts that are dragging on – well actually I think I have ADD which has been keeping me for getting anything done
  8. There’s a giant nail in the front tire of my brand new set of tires – DAMN IT
  9. My two dogs need to be groomed so badly that my miniature schnauzer looks like a muppet
  10. I’m almost done with the sixth book in the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich
  11. I need to walk 4 miles today
  12. Have customers I need to see today
  13. Don’t know what all I’m making for dinner tonight

So there, as it turns out, 13 reasons why I forgot.

But on a positive note, I got a nice bouqet of flowers delivered today from the husband!  Well, technically it’s my Christmas present, a year’s worth of flowers delivered monthly, but hey it also happens to be my anniversary so I’ll just say it’s for my anniversary and be done with it.

Enough for now,

Ciao

Note to my 16yr old self

Hey D,

It’s me.  Just wanted to let you know that you don’t have to cry about not seeing George Michael in concert.  When you’re 37yrs old, you’ll get to see him perform.   And what a show it will be!  The stage, amazing, technologically so far advanced you wouldn’t believe me.  Just trust me, it will be phenomenal.  Plus, he has still got it after all these years!!  In fact, he’s probably better.  Sexy, check. Voice, check.  Boody shakin, check, check.

So dry your tears, you’ll get a chance to see him; you’ll drool, sing, dance, and laugh with your friends about how silly you can still be… even in your 30’s.

It’ll be all right darling.  Just go on & remember that you’ll see him eventually.

Now if I could just tell you that you’ll see Duran Duran, then everything would be perfect.  Maybe another time.

Love ya,
D

P.S.  Word of advice… maybe you should – you know what, never mind, just do what you’re gonna do.  Lessons learned.

Grrrrrrr

We got a call from a realtor at 10:00am that they wanted to show the house to their client sometime between 11-1:00pm.  Yay!  This is actually the 5th client that has wanted to see the house in less than two weeks.  Believe me when I say that I am thrilled by this development.  So I left work, rushed up to the house, and set about making sure it was in show condition.  As in, all the lights were on, all the toys were put away, no dishes laying around, clean the deck of the 10 BILLION acorns and leaves (this is in no way an exaggeration ~ the oak tree must be in the neighborhood of 100 yrs old because it produces the HUGEST acorns), etc.
(Writer’s note: Since beginning this post I have come to learn that we are not the only one’s with the acorn problem. You can read more about it here if you are curious. Fascinating stuff, riveting some might say.)

I had put all the lights on and was in the middle of clearing the deck when the husband calls to tell me that the realtor cancelled for today and they want to come tomorrow instead!  AAAAAAHHHHH!  Excuse me??!  No you may not come tomorrow, you are coming over now like you said.  I’m not doing all this work for nothing!!!  I had the deck about 75% cleaned by that point.  Geez!  All right, lets go back through the whole house to turn of all the lights.

Back to the office I go…. once I get settled in GUESS what happens.  GUESS, go ahead, GUESS.  I bet you can figure it out… someone else called to say they’d like to look at the house today, between 2:30-3:30pm.  Well, at least on the bright side, all the cleanup I did on the deck didn’t go to waste.

******

Ok, I stated this post on Tues. and now it’s Thurs.  The people that were scheduled to come through between 2:30-3:30pm may or may not have actually come over.  They didn’t leave a card so we have no real way of knowing.  I think that is incredibly rude.  Is it just me?  LEAVE A DAMN CARD!  Or call and tell us that you aren’t coming over!!!  We left lights on all over the house so that it shows well and they didn’t have the courtesy to show-up.  We aren’t PG&E!  Grrrrrrr.  On top of this, the original people that were scheduled for Wed. between 11-1:00pm called at 3:00pm to tell us that they weren’t coming after all but could they reschedule for Thurs. between 12-2pm?  WTF????  Are you kidding me right now?  Why not, we have nothing better to do than leave all the lights on ALL DAY long.

*****

Ok, so now it’s Fri. and this is the longest it has taken me to write one simple post!!  All right, where was I?  Oh, yes, the people that rescheduled for Thurs. 12-2pm didn’t actually show up sometime between 2:30-4:30pm.  I know this because I stopped by the house after 2:00pm to turn off all the lights.  You know, figuring that the people would have already come by at their scheduled time, but NOOOOO, they hadn’t been there yet ~no card.  Decided to leave the lights on just in case they were running late.  Sure enough when we got home at 5:00pm, there was a card there from the realtor.

We notified our agent so he could follow up.  But get this, the agent that showed our house represents PRO ATHLETES!  And she showed the house to a PRO-FOOTBALLER!!  How cool is that???!  Unfortunately, though it’s highly unlikely that he will make us an offer that we want, apparently this guy likes to low-ball people.  Which, in our situation, just won’t do.  But he did say that our house was on the top of his list so far….

OMG!!! We just received word from our agent that someone wants to present an offer on the house tomorrow night!!!!!

 *****

Continuing on with the longest post in history….  Here is some new ridiculousness to add to the story… it’s now Sat. night and at about 1:00pm this afternoon we got a call from our agent saying that he spoke with the other people’s agent.  Apparently there was a falling out between the two.  The client & agent wrote up the offer without indicating an offer price.  So the agent said, if you want me to present the offer tonight, then you need to tell me what your offer price is.  And this is in no way a joke, the client says I want to offer $X million.  I’ll just tell you that it was $700,000.00 LESS than what we are asking.  The agent says, I am not going to present that offer to the sellers.  (Hey, someone with a brain.)  Cause, frankly, if they had tried to present that to us, we would have laughed in their faces.

We owe more to the bank than what the offer was, we certainly couldn’t accept the offer.  In addition, this house & property is WORTH WAY MORE THAN THAT!  Grrrrrr. The house itself is 4,000sq ft.  On 5 acres of land.  4 bdrms, 4 & 1/2 baths, plus an office.  It is gated.  It is private.  It has views of the valley that are unparalled.  The garage alone is over 1,000sq ft.  So COME ON lady, what can you be thinking???!!  Not too mention, we’ve got to have some money left over to buy a new house.

Well, the client didn’t like the agent telling her that she wouldn’t present that LOW of an offer so she told her that she would find another agent.

We’re a little sad.  Not about that dumb lady & her agent.  But about the fact that we don’t have an offer on the house.  We were really hoping this would be it!  Alas, it was not to be.

I think that is enough for now (I’ll be sure to bore you with more details as they arrive),

Ciao

P.S. YAY, I finally did it!  I finished the longest post in history!

I get to see (part 2)

So we went to the Justin Timberlake concert on Sunday night and it was freakin’ AMAZING!!!!  Yeah we saw him in concert before, but that just doesn’t even matter.  This show was different than the one we saw in Fresno.  Different order of songs, dances, costumes, even some of the players were different.

I have posted pictures and more about the concert here.  So go read it, now.
